It’s been a long time since fans discovered something new regarding one of the previous games. One of the forgotten relics of Shenmue’s past is the lesser-talked-about Shenmue Online, which was originally touted for release back in 2006. Being developed around the time of the MMO boom, Shenmue Online had a pretty hairy development that ended in its unfortunate demise. Although a beta was released to testers in Korea, a working build of the game has never materialised.
In spite of this, Shenmue fans have longed to discover any sliver of lost information they can about the game. Forum user “Sheephead” is one of those fans who has recently been going down somewhat of a rabbit hole regarding the game, and his research has unearthed some pretty interesting information, with more promised to come!
In thread 2 of his findings, you can see some fantastic map images, 3D renders and information about some of the characters that would have appeared in the game. There’s also some more detail regarding the game’s storyline and a new iteration of the prophecy. Could any of this still be considered canon for the future of the series?
