As reported by Shenmue Dojo’s own Matthew Oliver, Yu Suzuki was recently spotted at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. It’s always nice to see Yu Suzuki in good health, and it’s probably not unusual for him to attend the Tokyo Game Show.
Justin Shiriram Keeling shared a photograph appearing to show him enjoying a few beverages with Yu Suzuki himself, seemingly at a SEGA party. Whenever Yu Suzuki appears at any video game show around the world, speculation regarding a Shenmue or Virtua Fighter title, or another potential YsNet Project always seems to crop up, and of course this time is no exception.
Looking into Justin himself, he is a games investor, which is promising for us Shenmue fans. Taking a look at the company he is the founding GP of, Lumikai, it appears to be a video game investment company based in India with a “focus on building win-win partnerships.”
After our interview with Yu Suzuki conducted earlier this year alongside PhantomRiverStone.com, the keyword we took away for the future of Shenmue 4 was the word “Partner,” with YsNET seemingly stuck in search of a potential partnership to continue the series. Could this rather innocent-looking photograph be the basis of a potential partnership forming? It, of course, remains to be seen, but it’s a small glimmer of hope during the recent quiet period we Shenmue fans are facing.
