Shenmue Dojo Celebrates it’s 25th Anniversary!!

Posted on November 29, 2025 at 14:50 PM GMT

It’s that time of the year again where there’s an influx of anniversaries! Whether it be the Dreamcast across all worldwide territories, Shenmue’s release in America, followed by the release in PAL territories, or its Japanese release at the end of December (26th Anniversary this year!), it’s always a big time to celebrate!

So it’s not unusual to assume that this little Shenmue fan site that was created around this time period would also be celebrating its own anniversary too!

With that, the idea was set in motion, and the birth of a Shenmue centric, online website was born just days after the US release of Shenmue on November 14th, 2000. “Ryo’s Place” was the first incarnation of what would become the “Shenmue Dojo”. – Peter Campbell, Shenmue Dojo History Section.

Everyone here at ShenmueDojo.com wants to thank all of the Shenmue fans from around the world for all of their support of our website over the past 25 years, the website would not exist today without you all! (Well it probably still would, but it would just be for myself and Matt! 🙈 — James Brown) We also wish to thank Yu Suzuki for not only first creating this magical series that we love and hold dear, but for continuing to find a way to make this series continue. We are blessed to be receiving more Shenmue again in the form of Shenmue 3 Enhanced from ININ Games, and we are ready to throw all of our dedication (and money) back towards it too.

Our goal is to always strive for more, and for a series like Shenmue that deserves a continuation/conclusion, we will always be here to fight 💪. Thank you all so much, and here’s to another 25! (where we hope to have Shenmue 4, 5 and 6 by then of course 😁!)

Special thanks to staff member Jibby for producing yet another fantastic anniversary logo for us! Jibby has produced our logos for the last 5 years in a row now, and each of these milestones is enhanced by his wonderful work! Expect another limited edition pin badge for our next anniversary logo to be announced soon!

Does it get any more nostalgic than this? ✨ Even after a quarter of a century, this neighbourhood still feels like like a second home to us. It always will. 💙

Anyone else grabbing some food after work tonight, Shenmue fans? 🍜 After grinding through this week, you deserve to blow off some steam with a friend and let someone else cook for you!

🇯🇵 "Shenmue" was so atmospheric for its time. I love just walking through the city on a rainy evening.

Neon signs, vending machines and 1980s Showa-era streets. A perfect blend of nostalgia and belonging.
