Shenmue 1 and 2 on PC now playable in VR!

Posted on August 11, 2026 at 13:43 PM BST

Today sees the exciting release of Shenmue 1 & 2 VR Mod V1.0 for PC!

Developed by Shenmue 3 VR creator and modder Tensai37, we now have a fully functioning VR mod for the original games we adore. You can walk around the world using your PC-compatible VR headset and take the next step towards immersing yourself in the world of Shenmue.

The mod works across both games on PC and will see further development over time, including the addition of fully functioning motion controls!

Furthermore, this doesn’t require any messy file-dropping. Simply use the Windows installer to install the mod into the game(s), start up using your headset, and it will automatically boot into VR mode!

We’ve tested an earlier version of the mod and have been very impressed with what we’ve seen so far. Matt will be doing a video on it as soon as he can!

Can’t wait for the video? Download it NOW!

📡NEW MERCH!

A brand new Shenmue Dreamcast Keyring has been spotted in the recently opened SEGA Store Osaka. It currently appears to be exclusive to Osaka, priced at 990 yen. This would be the first Official "SEGA" released Shenmue merchandise for quite some time now! Thoughts?

It's nice to see Ryo looking happy when he talks about his home. By the time that he arrives in Guilin, he seems more relaxed and comfortable talking about himself. It's where we really get to know him. 💙
