After the recent unexpected release of Shenmue merchandise by Insert Coin Clothing, we were once again surprised by the news of more Shenmue merchandise on the way, this time from Limited Run Games.
Announced earlier today by Limited Run Games, an upcoming collection of SEGA Dreamcast Trading Cards will be released to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the SEGA Dreamcast (in America).
Eagle-eyed Shenmue fans may have already spotted Ryo Hazuki on the central card displayed in the image, as well as a second card featuring Ryo and Shenhua in the lower left corner. Both of these images are from the original Shenmue 3D promotional artwork and promise to be part of an exciting set of cards to collect. The cards appear to be randomly dispersed in packs that are available for pre-order now at Limited Run Games. You can purchase a Booster Box, which contains 24 card packs for a total of 120 cards, giving you a good chance to find the Shenmue ones! Alternatively, you can opt for smaller Hobby Boxes, which feature just 4 card packs, with 20 cards in total. You may need to stock up on a few boxes to find the elusive Shenmue cards (unless you’re particularly lucky!).

Along with the trading cards, Limited Run Games has other awesome Dreamcast-branded items available, but what excited us the most is the promise of larger, game-specific merchandise to follow in the coming months.
Not only will Shenmue be getting new merchandise, but Shenmue II as well! We’ll keep you updated as soon as we find out when to expect this additional merch to drop, but our guess is December for Shenmue I, which would also mark the 25th anniversary of the game’s first release in Japan.
