Loath to bring up politics online at any forum or SoMe; but come ooooon, The U.S. of A., what the hell is going on? It's so demoralizing how normalizing this shit is getting ... as in everyday brings a whole new level of cray cray to the table and one can't help but get desensitized although that is exactly part of the problem. *rant over* ... Actually, no, not over. Because it happens where I live too. In Norway, that country where people have actual rights paid by our taxes (the horror). Our own right wing politicians (they're kind of a Republicans light to be honest, if we're talking actual politics) are increasingly borrowing hollow "insult retreat play victim" strategies and it is killing any meaningful exchange of ideas. I don't mind people being conservative. I don't agree, but give me a reasoned argument and at least I can agree to disagree or in the best cases having something to think about. My best friend is a conservative and we can have good conversations where we both have to take into consideration the other opinion and how it affects our lives and how we view the world. Our politics are instead left at kindergarten level, no offense meant at kindergarten kids who are usually cool albeit strange human beings. I expect more. Now the rant is over. Going back to Kowloon with Ren now. Phew. Something reliable.

You know your country has problems when there's an entire list of things this could be referring to.

This is very Off-topic what i write: I'm a big Star-Wars-Fan and i ever wanted to know what the clone wars were really was? I don't believe that Django Fett-Clone-thing, i think that the Clone Wars were something different. What was George Lucas peronal origin about the Clone Wars in "A new Hope"?

Honestly, the daylight savings ending where we turn the clocks back and gain an hour? it's better than new year's eve. There should be a fun countdown accompanied with it.

I bought Nickelodeon Kart Racers on a whim because I thought it'd be a fun game I could play with my kids. Turns out nobody in my family likes it. I had to post a review online:

in the news:

"Antarctic scientist 'stabs colleague who kept telling him endings of books he was reading"

A scientist plunged a kitchen knife into his colleague as he was fed up with the man telling him the endings of books, say investigators.
Sergey Savitsky, 55, and Oleg Beloguzov, 52, would pass the lonely hours during four harsh years together in a remote outpost in Antarctica by reading.

However Savitsky became angry after Beloguzov kept telling him the endings, it has been claimed.
Daily Record reports that the victim is now in intensive care with a knife injury to his heart.

just read they are axing apu from the simpson.. the pc brigade is going after everything now.
A hardworking immigrant living the American dream, and a minority of sheltered crybabies have a problem with it? Sounds like racism to me.

from what i understand from watching a clip about those campaigning to get rid of him, they are indian-americans who were bullied by people likening his accent to theirs or using apu's catchphrase at them.

imo those kids/adults who do this are racist or simply bullies who will use anything to attack someone. - making the world over pc and banning stuff will never get rid of horrible people.

And how many people were subject to this treatment exactly? Fifty? A hundred? A thousand? Ten-thousand? A hundred-thousand? A million? I sincerely doubt it was that many at all. Furthermore, if someone being an arsehole in the form of putting on a dodgy Indian accent is the extent to which their problems reach, they must have a pretty damn cushy life.

Imposing political correctness just causes more and more people to ridicule and actively rebel against it; a combination of those who dislike political correctness to begin with and the emergence of those newly affected by the advent of said imposition. Racism, sexism, homophobia, and all the other isms and phobias under the sun will never be entirely eradicated because it is a human issue, not a societal one. The PC types themselves are the very definition of racist by assuming that just because they, as part of an 'identity group', take issue with something, everyone within that particular group must share the same sentiment because they all think the same and there is nothing separating one individual from the next, right? Can you even begin to imagine the fallout if a white person said the same about black or brown people? Oh, the irony.

Trouble is, you give these people an inch and they want fifty-thousand acres. Which character are they going to target next? Bumblebee Man? Luigi Risotto? Cookie Kwan? Krusty the Clown? Fat Tony? Dr Hibbert? The floodgates have been opened, so take your pick.

Most of those have already been given the chop...

I moved from a large South-East town in England near London and since I've moved to a large city in North-East England that has a lot of countryside or farm areas, LOTS of people make fun of me for my English accent, they think it's 100% Cockney but I sound nothing like those thuggish characters in EastEnders, I actually was told when I was still in my hometown that I have a rather "posh" accent because I worked hard and paid attention in class. A lot of complimented my accent in my hometown but in this stupid, inbred, farmer city filled with heroin addicts, they're the ones that sound stupid, they pronounce words with missing letters so whenever someone mocks my accent, I take it with a pinch of salt. (y)

But still this is ridiculous about Apu, yes he was a stereotype but that's why people LOVED him, a Hindu student back in my school loved him.

If people think Apu is offensive, they should look at Howard Wolowitz from the Big Bang Theory and how he mocks Rajesh Koothrappali, the only thing I found hilarious about Wolowitz' mockery of Raj's Hindu inheritance was the episode when he copied his "Bollywood Breakdance", even then Indian Hindus found it funny as well as me but thought it was very offensive.

Then you have those comedies that were made by Indian Hindus themselves like i.e. "Goodness Gracious Me" & "The Kamars", I've never watched the other one but I watched Goodness Gracious Me growing up and A LOT of their comedy was offensive towards the Indian-Hindu & even Pakistani-Muslim community.

What these idiots don't understand is that Apu's character comes from a place of comedy with the very best, most good-hearted intentions at the foundations, as opposed to the anti-minorities propaganda they have misinterpreted his existence as. Hell, something like 99% of newsagents (or 'convenience stores' for our American friends) I've shopped at in my life have been run by Indians or Sri Lankans, some of whom shared characteristics with Apu (one of them literally used to say, "Please, come again," after each transaction) because, hey, Apu is an exaggerated version of a culmination of those very characteristics. He would be boring as fuck otherwise; he certainly wouldn't have lasted the close-to thirty years he has done.

Not to be a killjoy but I feel like individual people should not be allowed to buy fireworks until they learn how to actually construct a display and realise that you have to build up to the big ones rather than just buying the noisiest, most annoying fireworks available and spamming them for three hours straight.

To be more reasonable I will suggest only imposing this ban on houses within a two mile radius of my own.
