“What’s Shenmue?” was a demo made available to Japanese Dreamcast owners that had pre-ordered Shenmue and were met with the unfortunate news that the games release date had been delayed. To apologise for the delay, these owners were able to pick up a copy of What’s Shenmue? to enjoy a small demo set in Yokosuka’s Dobuita Street, in order to find the SEGA President (at the time) Mr. Yukawa.
Face Demo: June 19, 1999
This release starts on the character presentation screen with no main menu. Normally, there should be the Sega logo then the title screen looking like the demo cover (blue). We should then access the main menu allowing to choose between 3 options, play the demo, see the presentation of the characters and the options.
Also, the B button is not accessible meaning that you cannot skip any of the faces demos.
