General RGG Discussion

The Trailer about part 5 really Looks nice. I really hope These hd Releases will get a western release soon. I want to Play 3, 4 and 5 so I can finally play Yakuza 6 which is in my Collection for a Long time already. Just didn't play it because i want to play the games in right order

I'm in the same boat. I could actually start playing 3-5 on PS3... but just knowing that the PS4 ports could be around the corner is keeping me from doing so! + Just having Yakuza 0-6 all on PS4 would be so EPIC! But yes, I haven't touched 6 yet, as I don't want to play it before the rest of the series, really enjoyed what I've played from 0 - Kiwami 2!

So I remain waiting for news on Yakuza 3 like this:

2 or 3 was supposed to wrap up Kiryu's saga but they brought him back. I'd have loved for Kiryu's part in 4 to have been kept a secret, would have made Saejima's 2nd chapter so much more epic but there we go. I don't see Kiryu staying gone forever (I see them already mention bringing him back) but so far going solely by RGG Online the only characters in the plot that have been brought back are Akiyama, Komaki and another trainer whose name I yet again forget (bold drill sergeant that trains Akiyama in 5). Though I have a strong feeling we'll be getting at least one more old character popping up by the end of that story. Of course we don't know if Online and Shin will even follow much of the same plot, we'll have to wait a few months until we finally actually start getting some real info from Sega on the game.

I certainly can't wait, feels like I've been waiting for this game for ages for some reason, the thought of a brand new chapter in the ongoing series is the most hyped I've been since Yakuza 6, while Judge Eyes was absolutely amazing, I really want to see where the main story goes next (I feel that's too harsh on JE though, it was so damn good that I don't doubt I may actually like it better than the next mainline Yakuza).

I told you before, his name is Saigo!

Sega just tweeted out an update in regards to the Western version of the game:-

So there is no plan to delay it then and they are recasting the role Tanimura style (which I expected them to do)

I guess they're really gonna be pulling some over nighters to get this job done. Makes me wonder how this will affect the English dub. I can't see them recasting the English actor or re recording lines for the English dub.

Makes me wonder if it will eat into Shin Ryu Ga Gotoku at all. How stretched is this team? They have that Yakuza 5 PS4 remaster coming out in June in Japan. They're working on New Yakuza (presumably that will be their end of year release in Japan.) And now they're doing more work on Judge Eyes to recast that role.

Always made me wonder, how stretched is this team? They do a lot of work.

Kind of glad I have that Japanese copy now...I turned off Auto Updates on it...will try to keep it in it's original form (not that it matters considering I still have the physical copy)

Excellent! People worried for nothing.

I may be tempted to get another, "new," copy and sell my old one, if I ever need the money and the price stays high...

Great news. Presume only the face needs changing, not the voice or even body, perhaps. RGG Studio is gigantic--wouldn't worry about swapping one character and a remaster eating too bad into Shin Yakuza.

Thats good news indeed. Although I ordered the japanese copy already I will still get the western release as planned so that i can get the story. I do not regret the purchase of the japanese version it is a nice collectors item.

No delay is kinda impressive, but par for the course on the team - they are great at working against tight deadlines. Day 1 of course, gonna be playing this and the RGG5 remaster at the same time as I just can't wait to play both (and then Shenmue 3 soon after, good time of year!)

It sucks we've still got zero information on a Western release of Yakuza 3's PS4 port. They've announced Yakuza 5 for PS4 in Japan already.

Good news. Have they communicated a new release date yet?

It's still releasing on the original intended date of June 25th. I saw a tweet from someone who is involved in the project, saying that everyone will do what ever it takes to keep the release date, so they are going to have a busy few months!

i think there is a chance that they will release a Yakuza 3-5 HD all in one package for the west
some time after the release of Judgment. maybe christmas.

its suspicious that Sega is dodging every question about Yakuza on PS4 in the west,
they are just posting stuff about the Steam release but they are ignoring every Yakuza 3 question.

the localization team was already working on the Yakuza 3 HD re release, we have some interview snippets
where they were talking about it.

the worst case scenario for me would be if Sega waits because they want to bring Yakuza Kiwami 2 on Steam first
(in 4-8 months from now)
and then 3-6 months later (something like early 2020)
they announce a Yakuza 3-5 HD pack for PS4 and Steam but its digital only. i dont like that idea.

Seems they are concentrating on Judgment first, which is understandable. In theory most of 4 and 5's work is already done, shouldn't need to many changes so its just 3 that really needs fixing up. I'm in no hurry though, aside from the Japanese releases to play, I just see it as being an E3 announcement or something.

I think I'm gonna stop playing the Japanese version and just wait for the English version in June.

I have enjoyed my time with it thus far (I'm at Chapter 6) but I feel like my limited Japanese really hampers my enjoyment of the story. Game has a lot of dialog and character development and some of the emphasis on dialog choices just feels a tad overbearing for me.

It's funny. I never had a problem playing or understanding Yakuza 6 when I imported it at launch, but yeah, I feel somewhat disconnected with Judge Eyes due to just how much dialog there is. Some of it I can understand, but when they start talking about motivations or such, I'm a deer in headlights. The story is really heavy and I feel like I'm just missing things.

So I think I'm just gonna wait for the English subbed version and then do a full deep dive into it. 'Cause that's the other thing, I've already put 25 hours into the game as is and I don't really want to do two deep dives into this game (i.e spend 100 hours or so with it twice)

Really cool game from what I've played but yeah, all this character development and all this decision making just makes me think I'm gonna wait for the English version to complete it.

I think I won't touch my japnese Version and wait for the Western Release. It should arrive in the next couple of days. I will just keept the Japanese Version as a collectors item.

It Looks cool yes but It does not look like Shenmue. Not sure if I want to see a Shenmue game with super realistic looking characters based on real actors. i somehow prefer the Comic look that S3 has. A more realistic take on Shenmue would not look like Shenmue at all. It would not be the same anymore.

But a Shenmue like game with new characters with the Dragon engine would be cool indeed.

I didn't say it looked like shenmue.
Yes. I kind of agree, but, if it was really well made, it could work.

Never said you said that it Looks like Shenmue. It just the Thing that Sega is into super looking characters and using real actors for their game. This a depature from the Shenmue Art style. Which is a pity because I really fance the Shenmue Art style. A sega esque Shenmue would be well made with no doubt but It would not look like Shenmue. It is hard to describe what I mean I am afraid.

I have the Impression that most modern games try to make their characters look like real People but Shenmue is trying to be in the middle. Not completly Comic style like some Anime games but also not completly realistic. The perfect blend between real and manga.

I like it because it does not look boring. Games have come really far this day but somehow These modern games with their realistic Approach looks boring. These games all look the same.

My favourite gaming art style of all time will always be the art style of the late 1990s and early 2000s. The Ps2/Xbox/Gamecube era.

That's perfectly understandable; its why I haven't purchased a second English version of each game, since 6; I just don't have time in my adult life anymore, to devote a month (generally takes me around 2 weeks or so to run through each title) to the same game, a year; lots of things to worry about and stay on top of!

Judge Eyes took up the end of January and early February. 'mue III will take up early September and if it releases on time, Shin Ryu ga Gotoku will take up the end of December and early January of next year.

Plus, I'll be moving into my home in a month and I will re-setup all of my consoles and stuff, which haven't been hooked up since 2015, so I'll definitely be playing a bit more than I have the last couple of years.
