The new Shenmue Dojo in one word

I preferred the old site because it actually gave a "Shenmue" vibe and I think that's important. If you look at Hazuki Dojo for example, they have actual images from Shenmue that perfectly blend in with the forum design and that really gives it a special feeling. I still like this one though, but if you want to take it to the next level then make it more Shenmue-themed.

Thank you for your feedback, and I understand what you are saying.

When we re-launched the Dojo, it was from a perspective of modernising the old lady, and has been no small task on any front to say the least. Now that it's live and we can see it breathing, we can see what works etc. We have an incredibly large amount of ideas and tweaks planned for both the main site and the forums. Both in regards to design and features. Some of them I'm working on as we speak.

I said this from the beginning, that designing and modernising a site, let alone a Shenmue site, no less the oldest and best site, would be an incredible challenge. People (me included) have a love for the aesthetics of both the games and the old sites, but at some point you have to accept that times they are a changing, and so is Shenmue series and the fan base.

Long winded answer, but I felt it needed to be said. Anyway, I think you will like some of the future updates to the main site and forums!

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate what you all do. As you said, it's a very difficult task especially when it concerns Shenmue. But ultimately, all that matters is that this site was designed with the utmost care and passion. As long as you have that, it will always be right.

Great!

I think its a great idea to start fresh with the forum because it mirrors the way the Shenmue series is moving into a bright new era. Soon when Shenmue 1 & 2 are released the fandom will grow significantly with new fans joining the Shenmue family. When Shenmue 3 is released fans both old and new will get behind the game and hopefully we'll see a Shenmue 4. What better way to move into this new era than to have a forum doing just the same?

I think it's an exciting time for the Shenmue series as the future really is in the hands of the fans. If we all support the series and Suzuki he'll be able to complete his vision.

Fresh.

Loving the updates and mobile friendly'ness :D

Beautiful. The Shenmue Dojo needed a reboot anyway.

Design is neat and pretty standard. Plus point from the clean mobile look. I would like to point out that seemingly you cant jump in to the latest page of the topic without clicking the topic first and then choosing the last page while using the site mobile.
