Random Gaming Thoughts

capcom is taking votes on which resident evil game to remake next.

personally i think RE:zero has a good story and lots of remake potential but going by the poll i saw on ign, it seems like code veronica is winning.
I know this is selfish of me since the original will still exist, but I really don't want them touching CV at this point.

edit. i just want to add, i really like how gaming companies are starting to listen to fans. the upcoming mgs snake eater remake was also apparently based on fan requests for the game.
I would be all for a RE Zero Remake, purely as it is my least favourite RE game. Mostly due games non-co-op sturcture. Remakign the game and actually making it a proper Co-op experience is totally justified.

Narrative wise however, i still want them to work on Code Veronica. It's an important story for the franchise and being absent of the REmake treatment is a little worrying - I still would have preffered it to RE4.

I use to forget CV as a Dreamcast play value game. Probably due to being ported to PS2 first not too far away from DC flip. But it was heavily publicized as DC exclusive and was intended to remain like that. So it stuck with me as one of the DC technical demostrations, with fully realtime rendered scenarios making debut in the series (Dino Crisis's excellent exercise of minimalism modeling could count but decided to restrict myself to RE), starting with the lighter ready so we could appreciate the dynamic lightning, crawlies over the walls.. but specially Claire's expression of total despair when she faces the first undead. Before Emotion Engine alleged better face animations this was one of those legendary peaks in storytelling and tension pacing.
CV use to be the less liked because the difficulty is a bit unbalanced. The final boss its one of the worst in quality ever imo.

As a big fan of King of the Hill and GTA Online i decided to recreate Hanks Ford F250 and Bucks Cadillac Seville (i painted them black as its the only car colour i like). My characters garage is actually based in a propane storage place in the desert. What i love about games like this is the world you can create for yourself and i have never bought a microtransaction.0_0 (1).jpg

I was just about to make a topic about Microsoft interested in buying Sega. Really intriguing stuff I wonder how that would've been received? According to emails and documents they would have kept Sega multiplatform. Still what a crazy thing that would have been if it actually had occurred. I'm personally not a fan of it. Still wild to think about the what if possibilities.

Would you be a fan if Microsoft started reviving old Sega IPs thus giving Shenmue a better chance at finishing the series?

I feel like Microsoft is a bit more lenient now than they’ve been in the past, perhaps because they know both Sony and Nintendo are harder to compete against than they’ve anticipated, so they’ve managed to find sort of a niche where they can get some good will with letting Banjo be in Smash or doing their whole gamepass thing on pc, the whole deal with how Hi-fi Rush was developed and announced, etc. Even so I always worry when a bigger company buys out a smaller one.

I wont turn into a Microsoftian, never! Ever! - I yelled very loud inside the womb, said my mum.

If that way Shenmue its finished:
1) Yu Suzuki at direction with total creative powers. He may choose the people to work with too.
2) in videogame form. Not experimental Microsoft things. Nor anime or book, yet. Later, books and anime are very welcome.

Then yes I change my jacket.

It would hard not to be a fan of that if Microsoft singlehandedly saved the Shenmue franchise. I just think they were interested in buying Sega just to have them in their collection something about that doesn't sit right with me.

Though having said that I remember some of the discussion on the old dojo forum back in the day how people thought the original Xbox was a spiritual successor to the Dreamcast. If I'm not mistaken wasn't Microsoft interested in buying Sega all the way back then as well or am I dreaming? It would be wild if after all this time it had came to pass in 2020 all these years later.

I honestly don't know why Sega doesn't do more with their IPs it's actually quite baffling.

I would love just a Dreamcast collection would be so cool. Not to mention I would adore a new Jet Grind Radio or a remaster even. A new Space Channel 5 would be neat there's ton more series of theirs that I'm blanking on.

remember for years people mocked shenmue budget, well... last of us 2 cost $220m to make with upto 200 full time employees, while horizon forbidden west cost $212m and had 300 developers.

last of us 2.. ok but $212m for horizon forbidden west? it was not even that memorable a game.

Videogames, same as movies, are excellent money launderies. But really its unsustainable in long term.. everything costs a kidney and a half.
Thats why companies are so eager about ai recently.

It's always super depressing reading about their strategic blunder(s) at such at critical junction. I wish so badly it never happened and that they were still in the console race today.

The demolition of Sega Europe wasn't less traumatic. The Sega HQ here was turned in a dirty bar, one of those you think "nope, not going in" and the big Sonic giving thumbs up sign was taken away and dumped (replaced by a Cruzcampo beer sign, the worst beer in the milky way.
By the way, the city district name were Sega HQ existed here was/is Vegueta. Cool right? I live near Saiyan hood
