Shenmue 3 Sales

I dont need to define anything, its common sense, and this passive aggressive tone (seen in other posts too) stops here.
You're misreading in to my post if you think it is passive aggressive. But if you're going to make a rule then isn't it in the benefit of everyone to know where the line is? I have no interest in name calling, I actually tried to have a normal discussion when people started name calling me saying I'm not a true fan or that I think I'm holier than others.

I think i understand why gamestat shows only 40 000 copies of Shenmue 3. There is a software bug with Shenmue 3 on PS4. Every game on PS4 show you the trophies after first launch, but Shenmue 3 is an exception - you need to get first trophy to see trophy list.
Until you get first trophy S3 is invisible in your profile on PS4.

If Gamstat were the gold standard, you'd imagine its stats would be reported on frequently. I don't even see anyone bring it up on forums like Resetera. Just seems like the old VGChartz stuff people used to rely on and was proven to be bogus. I think there's bits of useful information there, but like tomboz has said it just doesn't measure up with the facts we know. 4,000 people backed Shenmue 3 in Japan, yet we're supposed to believe the 20,000+ copies sold in Japan were people double & triple dipping? We know Shenmue is more popular in the West than in Japan, so all we can do is try to project from the 20,000 and I don't see how we get to 40,000 total Shenmue 3 players worldwide...

It's amazing how the Switch has completely dominated Japan. Sakura Wars used to move massive units back in the Saturn days. Now barely pushing 140,000 on the PS4 is a success because of the Switch. Look at all the oddball games on the switch, like Fishing Spirits. Maybe the Switch was the platform for S3..

Playing Shenmue on Switch would be a dream. Since it has Unreal support it wouldn't be so difficult to do it.
They should optimize the hell out of it, it will be max 720p dock and maybe using low details, if you check what happen with Bloodstained you will watch the sacrifices that an Unreal 4 game has to de make to run well on a Switch, but yes, it would have been great

I guess 1 & 2 should be ported first. I don't know why Sega didn't port it yet. Did Shenmue 1 & 2 sell well in the other consoles?

Ys Net should make a Shenmue-themed mini game collection based on the games in Shenmue 3 for the Switch. That's the type of junk that seems to sell these days. Did you see that Sony's top grossing game is some F2P junk on phones?

Shenmue City was ahead of its time...

Yeah i think the performance on the Switch could be a problem. I mean, lets look at the PS4 and Pro version,
its not really optimized. It works because the hardware is strong enough but its not optimized.
So if they dont work on that and tweak it for the Switch, the performance will be terrible. Not bad, terrible.
And i dont know if they have the ressources for that.

Looks fantastic and runs a lot smoother in boost mode. Because PS4 native is just below 900p, when i was playing on a slim 720p was my resolution setting; looked and ran pretty nice as well. 720p on switch should do fine, I suspect.

Maybe I live in another world, but I don't think this game is so bad as people are saying here. Ok that it is not in the same level as 1 & 2, but man I had a lot of fun playing it, probably this is the game that has the best humour in the franchise. I just love it.
Taking off the Shenmue fanboy glasses for a second, I legitimately just think it's a great game. Flaws and all.

Pretty surprised to discover over 100 user reviews on Amazon Japan:

That seems pretty high. More than I've seen on US or UK amazon. Def. less people 'gaming the system' since it sits at 3 1/2 stars. Lotta 1 stars. Also ranked @ 81/100 PS4 games. Kind of sitting with a bunch of old stuff, though.

BTW: why do they hate Yakuza 6? It's at 3 stars...

The hardcore hit it hard with the final boss and Kiryu's end...

Which is hilarious, because the story is so inherently, "modern Japan hits old-world Japan school of thought," I don't know how the Japanese didn't lap it up.

It did have very little Majima and even less Daigo though, both of whom are immensely popular there... That and Kitano I guess is not as well-liked as us westerners perceive him to be?

I was pleased to see the 4.7/5 user score on Amazon UK from 47 reviewers. That's pretty good for people on the fence to see.
