So this week I've bought a Shenmue vinyl despite not having a record player and my second PS4 version of the game despite not having the console.

Turntables are tons of fun. You should get one to play your Shenmue vinyl.

I bought the Xenoblade shirt but Nathan Barnatt (he plays Kieth Apricary) gave me the Neo Geo shirt as a gift. He's a real cool guy to talk to. Down to Earth and funny.

People! Act your age!!

In the past 3 days I bought a light-blue pineapple print T-shirt because it was dead cheap (2,50 EUR - about 2,20 GBP or 2,90 USD)
Also I bought slippers. You know, the ones old people have to keep their feet from getting cold? Slippers are awesome! I could provide pics, but the shirt is in the dryer and I am too lazy to take a pic of the slippers... where are they anyway? My feet are cold...

Since turning 30 I've decided it's time that I started my descent into old age. This mainly consists of buying Black Sabbath t-shirts and complaining about how the bus never arrives on time.

Saying that, I do like the shirt.

I did get some pleasant Dark Horse sources this week :):

The FF Ulimania book is okay, I was hoping for a book which has in depth lore for each entry but it's more of summary book which has character profiles, art and extra tid bits, a nice over view of the games though.

The Art of Metal Gear Solid I-V is worth the hype though! 2 Serperate volumes covering the games and some extra Peace Walker Art too! both books have roughly 400 pages and one book is dedicated to the Sketch work, the other dedicated to the completed and promo art for the games -This release is a triumph especdially as we never got a seperate Artbook for MGS3.

im a big mgs fan, since mgs1 (ps1) - i really didnt like mgs5 though.

did they have any concept art from the mgs games they didnt make? i Believe mgs2 was originally going to be set in the middle east etc

Hi Red, there's not much in regards for unknown games, but there are some interesting variations of characters like a female Vamp or unused characters.

I'm a huge MGS fan too, and feel the same way about The Phantom Pain, a padded game, full of generic missions/scenarios. But without going into spoilers the twist was just unnecessary and unfulfilling.

i understood why mgs5 was the way it was due to playing peace walker.. (peace walker is good) but mgs5 was lacking so much and was just a mess.. imo metal gear solid is not best suited to an open world style gameplay.

hideo kojima is a genius but mgs5 was a just bad game. maybe they will write a book about what went wrong behind the scenes making that one lol

kojima should of created that mgs ww2 game he kept talking about and made it in the similar style as mgs4 and not open world. ( i dont care what people say, i love mgs4)

i wonder how the mgs movie will turn out.

It's by far my least favorite Metal Gear Solid game and the only one from the main series that I didn't replay. I agree about the open world aspect. It didn't add anything for me and just felt empty and there for the sake of it. It's also a bit strange that Kojima chose this since he used to talk about how more crafted settings, situations and characters can enhance the gaming experience. Considering a few other choices it was maybe an attempt to appeal to "Western gamers"?

your probably right. while he was making mgs5, i remember reading how kojima was really impressed with gta5 and he was worried he couldnt match it (..or something along those lines) + kojima had complained himself, that metal gear solid is not popular or well received japan.. so maybe he was trying to make a game which would fully appeal to western gamers (?)

Interesting, I didn't know that Kojima talked about being impressed with GTA5. I guess that it's possible that this influenced a few design decisions.
