General RGG Discussion

There's a ton of new info + footage in the video posted above.
Better to make the conscious decision to watch that than to be spoiled by random assholes on social media.

Not sure about any additional leaks.

Have details on the game been leaked? Running into spoilery screenshots on twitter.

I dont think its actually leaked content
but if you freeze frame the new trailer and pay attention which people are in the different scenes
and what the subtitles say, you can kind of get a picture of what is going on.
So i wouldnt watch any analysing reaction videos because its possible that it will have spoilers.
With RGG Studio trailers its hard to tell if they are showing real spoilers
or if its all out of context and just bait.

I'm really looking forward to play as Kiryu again. I dont know if i like the agent style,
it looks a bit too over the top maybe? And then it seems like that agent style stance tool
is also part of cutscenes / quick time events, with Kiryu swinging through the air like Spider Man.
If its fun to play, its fine but in terms of looks it looks a bit silly.
But the rest looks great. A bit sad that its not a full main game
and i hope they can deliver a story that actually makes sense with Yakuza 6 and 7.

It's funny that they make Kiryu look closed to Kuroda with the customization options in the trailer.

But yeah I have two concerns about the Japanese physical version of the game:
- Somehow English text being absent.
- Bonuses not carrying over to a European account; i.e. access to the LAD8 demo, not receiving a bonus from previous saved games being detected etc.

The chances of double dipping are too real for this one 🙂.

I didn't watch the whole stream so I missed it, damnit.

Well, I guess for the sake of the RGG 8 demo scene, I will be double-dipping indeed :(

Btw on Steam its stated that Gaiden will not come with the english dub on release
but it will be added with a post launch patch.

Gaiden director Ryosuke Horii is going to stream gameplay on the RGG Youtube channel tomorrow

Also theres a gameplay demo at Gamescom, here are some details:
(no real story spoilers but still)
    • Demo took place only on The Castle
    • No Substories available in the Demo
    • English Voice Acting not available in the Demo
    • The demo takes place on "The Castle," a massive "Adult Theme Park" build on a massive container ship out in Osaka Bay. The Castle is frequented by all manner of criminals, seeking illegal fun away from the law
    • Joryu/Kiryu reaches The Castle with Akame, by Helicopter. Akame informs Kiryu/Joryu of the various activates aboard
    • Several locations: A Boutique, A Cabaret Club, Two Separate Gambling Halls, and a Coliseum
    • After purchasing Tags or Chips, the main casino features card games (Poker and Blackjack), while another establishment called "Toba" has Koi Koi and Oicho-Kabu. Winnings are redeemed for prizes (accessories, clothing, tonics) at both locations.
    • After Akame leaves Kiryu, he's jumped by a group of yakuza that tell him they don't let just anyone in.
    • The two combat styles, Agent and Yakuza, feel very distinct.
    • Agent is truly centered around the gadgets, which are activated by holding down each face button.
    • Spider — Joryu uses a wire to tie and throw enemies
    • Hornet — Calls A.I. combat drowns
    • Serpent — Joryu uses his jet shoes to hover and charge down opponents
    • Firefly — A cigarette-shaped bomb
    • Agent Style is effected against large groups of enemies (particularly in the coliseum fights for money), lots of AOE attacks.
    • Yakuza Style harkens back to Kiryu's more traditional combat, feels like an effective distilment of moves from every other game.
    • Club mini-game seems to function pretty standard, pay the entry fee, choose a woman to drink with, choose conversation options, offer gifts, grow relationship. Full FMV of the women was the standout, some may find it "awkward"
    • Character customization is handled at the Boutique. Options are broad, head-to-toe, ranging from a three-piece suit, two jeans and a t-shirt, to a Majima Construction Hard Hat.
    • Two separate categories of outfit: One for Regular Wear and One for Fighting in the Coliseum.
    • Several loadouts can be saved and previewed, in which Kiryu/Joryu does a walk and turn on the catwalk.
    • According to SEGA, regular wear outfits carry over into the main world, coliseum outfits do not.
    • The Coliseum Deathmatches give you a large roster to select playable characters to chose from. Currently unknown how they are unlocked
    • Some options include the Rooster and Ram Men from Yakuza: Like a Dragon's Seagull Cinema mini-game, Gary "Buster" Holmes, Patriarch Gondawara from Yakuza 2/Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Goro Majima.
    • Majima plays similarly to his Yakuza 0 Legendary Style

PlayAsia now has the physical Asia release and it has multi-language support.

Cancelled my JP pre-order and got that one :)
Made my order with PlayAsia, they do have various discount codes, I saw one on Twit which discounted near £5 from my bundle - KILLZONE:

Cheers guys! Cancelled my JP pre-order and re-ordered the Asia release. The discount code knocked a bit off it as well 🙂.
The Play-Asia website now lists the JP version as being multi-language too, but I'm not taking any risks.

I think the first thing i noticed in the demo gameplay live stream
was that they definitely created new character models for the citizens and thugs.
Also some completely new heat moves.
Agent style looks ridiculous, like some kind of Spider Man + Iron Man mix
but its probably gonna be very fun to play around with it.

I have no doubt.

Want them to include Puyo again though: I've gotten into that series so much now lol

I was planning to buy it later on sale, because I haven't played all yakuza main games yet... But if Daytona 2 rumor is true, I have to reconsider and play it sooner. :D It's crazy they didn't release it as a standalone nintendo switch game.

New RGG presentation, RGG Summit Fall 2023 announced.
The event will feature the latest information on Gaiden & Infinite Wealth.
September 20, 12 JST (7 days, 12 hours from now)

I guess we will get some real Infinite Wealth gameplay and a release date.
(and probably some super heavy spoiler trailer or gameplay sequence for Gaiden)

I woke up to the direct and it really got me in the mood for what's coming. January for Infinite Wealth is sooner than expected.

That said, the footage revealed entirely too much and depending on where one particular reveal is headed the story is going to break my heart at some point.

Damn, there's some juicy arcade ports across the next 2 entries ! Will spoiler box just in case

Daytona USA 2 (as Sega Racing Classic 2) SpikeOut, Virtua Fighter 3, Sega Bass Fishing !

Wonderful trailer. Personally think this will be the best game yet. Not holding my breath, but just a thought.

I don't think it revealed too much at all, IMO: we don't know who the primary antagonist is, we don't know how Morning Glory is involved and we don't know Kiryu's fate.

Can't wait to dive back in, absolutely cannot wait :D.

Now make the theme song a banger!
