For those unfamiliar, each 3rd of the month sees a 24-hour hypefest on Twitter, historically known as the Shenmue Tweetathon. All fans are encouraged to take part by tweeting about the series, with even a recurring AutoTweet tool available for the lazy/forgetful. To get an idea of what goes on, you'll find a selection of last month's contributions here.
Once upon a time, the Tweetathon was a campaign revolved around hashtags like #SaveShenmue and #SaveShenmueHD, but now it's simply a celebration, to "spread the word every 3rd and share the love for Shenmue." With re-releases now on sale and Shenmue III arriving in August, Shenmue Day is an opportunity to lend the series our own collective boost in promotion, and enjoy being part of an active global community that stretches beyond even the Dojo's walls.
This Sunday, March 3rd, is the 7th anniversary event, and for the third month running Insert Coin Clothing has offered a £20 gift voucher to one random participant. Good luck everyone. ?
