On November 19, 1994, SEGA released the SEGA 32X as an accessory for SEGA'S Mega Drive console, GENESIS In North America. In Japan, it was distributed under the name Sega Super 32X. In North America, Sega Genesis 32X. In Europe, Australia, and Brazil, it was called Mega 32X.
The console had only 39 games released, of which 2 are exclusive to Europe (Darxide and Fifa 96), one from Brazil (Surgical Strike) and one from Japan (Sangokushi IV, in English Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV). 6 of the 39 games were used in conjunction with the Sega CD, the most famous being Night Trap, which featured 32,768 screen colors instead of 64 on the Sega CD.
