Random Thoughts

Fuck me, I near spat out my coffee when I seen a post from Jeff., follwed by @Tomato Convenience Store and then @Bambi.

Wish it was the mid 2000's, sitting on Windows XP trying to log into MSN Messenger.
Well you all can follow me on Xbox if you want more Jeff content. lol Gamertag: Jeffgk83

I'm nearly 40 now, the mid 2000's I was a college student. That's how much time has past. We'll get to the conclusion of Shenmue when I'm in the retirement home. :D

Amen bud. We were kids back then, and now all grown up, pushing 40 now. As crazy as it seems, the old boards and back in the heyday will always be cherished. I would add you on Xbox... If I had an Xbox lol. Glad to see you are still with us and doing well.

I've been on a roll in Premiere...probably isn't any good but was fun to edit. Also done a bunch of Shenmue related stuff that I'm waiting to release one by one. And am finally starting to write my "In defense of Shenmue III" blog post that I've been meaning to write since my last playthrough late last year. Life is creative lately.

The thumbnail of Steve Austin

Yeah...it is what it is :p

I don't even know why I made it, I was just bored to tears and needed something to do. But at least it serves well to learn more of Premiere.

The real passion project would be to do something essay like. But that would require recording voice over and getting the nerve up to do that.

This is subsequently used as the reason to make vaccinations mandatory for absolutely everyone.

Random thought that came to mind.

So I kind of edited these on my own spare time. I actually used these original clipless interviews to learn a bit more of how to edit. I wanted to try my hand at telling a visual story to match their words and I think I achieved that. Also, I got a bit ambitious with the last two Keibler interviews and tried my hand at keyframing and basic animations. The Magazine layout was something I animated in my simple efforts to learn keyframing. I also tried my hand at isolating a subject from the foreground of a photo in the last one. Say what you will about the subject matter, but it was a good learning exercise for me on how to edit and tell a visual story to their words...so I enjoyed doing these. I really enjoy working in Premiere lately and enjoy just learning how to cut.

I figure if I'm learning Premiere I might as well do stuff that I find fun to do.

BTW should the Dojo ever need help with any video editing, I'd gladly throw my hand up...just so I can keep learning Premiere.

Great stuff!

"You got the biggest pop, Torrie," um... have you every SEEN her? Easily one of the 3 best-looking females in wrestling ever and like what the others said, whether cringe or great, her angles were ALWAYS super-over and entertaining.

And good to see Stacy be gracious with all the wrestling stuff; for years after she left, people took the piss out of her, saying that she just did it to get into acting or to get a paycheque or whatever, but her genuine warmth and personality when talking about her days in both feds shows she enjoyed it immensely, regardless of how she was used.

And great job with Premiere, Dan! I learned the version that came out in 2006, like the back of my hand, so I got REALLY adept at editing (not just cuts either; effects, animations, wipes, etc.), so much so that when I edited my first 10 minute baseball video in HS (when I cut my teeth on Premiere), it took me 2-3 months of a couple of hours a day of editing.

When I did my next big project (a 17 minute baseball video for my HS, after I graduated) 2 years later, I was able to get it done in one night: took me about 5 hours or so.

It becomes FUN once you really know your way around the program :D

Thanks...keyframing is the big thing I'm trying to learn more of atm. Which isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Making that simple magazine layout ended up taking, I don't know, 20 minutes at best. It's far easier than I thought it would be. At least simple stuff that is. Also trying to learn colour grading a little bit more and other little tricks this program has to offer.

I started off pretty basic just learning my way around basic cutting in Premiere but I'm kind of starting to grow a little bit more ambitious as I dabble into the effects side of things Premiere has to offer. Hence why I wanted to try making a simple animation and made that magazine layout. I also tried my hand at the whole isometric isolation thing breifly. I'm actually playing around more with that as we speak. Trying to learn how to make a small isometric animated photo sequence. Like I said, this is just all playing around trying to learn this thing.

Technically this isn't the first time I've edited. As I mentioned to @Jigen in a PM, I did use to dabble in Movie Maker back in the day making shitty AMV's to Linkin Park songs (yes I was one of those weebs :D)...but it did kind of teach me how to edit basic timelines back then. I then moved onto Vegas Pro briefly but then when I got a full time job I kind of just stopped editing all together.

Lately I've just been in the mood to go back to it and really wanted to try learning Premiere...so I've been doing odd stuff here and there. Be it subtitling, or some of the Shenmue stuff I've done thus far, or just bullshit like this that amuses me.

Or this random thing I threw together in an hour just because I was bored.

The longest thing I've done in Premiere so far is a 13 minute video that took 4 days to edit. And that was going from 12pm to 5am in the morning over 4 days straight. That was long (and kind of pointless)...but I guess it proved to myself I could make something of a narrative from nothing. But that was fun, it taught me basic editing...taught me the basics of ducking audio and taught me how to make a simple narrative from a bunch of unrelated clips and how to cut around music in general.

I guess I'll just share it for the hell of it. I feel conflicted by it. On the one hand, I'm kind of proud of how it came out (sans a few audio issues that I've since fixed in the version I have on my PC) but on the other, I feel conflicted that I may be carrying a torch for a high school celebrity crush :D

On the one hand, it was fun to make, but on the other, isn't this kind of sad when you're a 30 year old man? But that's a therapy thing I'm trying to learn how to deal with...Hell, part of me wonders if its sad that I'm still into Shenmue as much as I am, but again...this is sort of therapy related and me having conflict with still holding onto that inner child while everyone else around me is "growing up."

But in all seriousness, the main point of it was that I wanted to try and make a narrative out of unrelated clips and I think I kind of did that with this...but I don't know. A friend of mine who's been working in the Japanese film industry did tell me it was pretty well done and while offering constructive criticism on things I should learn to do cutting wise, he did praise me for having an eye for a good image set to music.

To which my response was "you actually watched that fucking thing? Why would you watch that?" :ROFLMAO:

I still want to do something Shenmue related...I thought about trying to turn this "In Defense of Shenmue III" blog post that I'm writing into a video but we will see. I really don't like doing voice over.

Anyways, the insomniac is ranting. Maybe I should close Premiere and Photoshop and get some sleep.

imo i think it's fake. chris rock braced for it and will smith put no power into that slap.

i would of thought a real slap from will smith would of put chris on the floor.

..i guess were find out eventually.

I'm 50/50. I initially was "oh come on that is so staged" but now I'm not so sure.

On the one hand, Will was laughing at the joke. At least until he saw Jada's expression of disgust. Maybe he decided to "honor" his wife. Or maybe it was all just staged to grab a headline.

But as you said, Rock seemed prepared for it to some degree and that hit was piss weak on Will's behalf.

I don't know. Maybe faked. Maybe a real moment of Will breaking down in public.

But here's the kicker, if it was real then the Academy's words of "we don't condone violence" basically falls flat as they gave the guy the Oscar and didn't remove him from the premise. If it was fake, then by gawd they are desperate for ratings.
