Random Gaming Thoughts

Isnt that technically false advertising? Or is it technically not? So the physical version is just Spyro 1 and it forces you to download 2 and 3? Why even bother with a physical release? I mean I guess its something and at the end of the day its just some small technical details, but how hard is it to run all the games off the disc as to not take up hard drive space, bandwith, download times? I wonder if you still have to have the disc in the drive to play 2 and 3, that would be the kicker.

I don't think it is false advertising as it's saying as much on the cover.

It's very annoying and I'd rather wait for them to fix everything and then release. However we don't know what's gone on behind the scenes. It seems to me they had to go to production and then patch it after.

The wider issue is lots of games do this now and it's becoming standard practice.

After seeing House of the dead pop up in the Dreamcast thread, it just got me thinking how much I miss light gun games, like house of the dead, time crisis, virtual cop, duck hunt, operation wolf, point blank, silent scope etc. I don't have a CRT TV or any lightguns/games anymore unfortunately. But I do have PSVR with Farpoint and the Aim controller, and that is a blast! Reloading the shotgun by cocking the controller feels so intuitive and satisfying.

That Spyro news reminded me of the Rare Replay (XB1) thing where around a third of the games on the collection you had to download like Perfect Dark. I mean, that's a massive download though for one collection, so yeah, unfortunately gonna have to pass on it for now. They never pulled that crap with Crash Bandicoot collection, right? So no idea why they have now with Spyro.

So I made this a couple years ago just for shits and giggles when I was messing around with the Rockstar Editor in GTAV Online. I don't think I ever posted it on the old forums.
Basically I just went through this phase where I enjoyed falling off of buildings and trying to land on people.
And then the weirdest bit of glitched-AI happened.
I'm weirdly proud of it. Still makes me laugh.

I finally completed God of War on PS4 and man, what a chore. I didn't really enjoy it. Pretty much forced myself to complete it. I pretty much have the same problems i got with most AAA games. They try to be super flashy with visuals, super violent and super savage without any good reason. I like my games to have more meaningful game mechanics that compliment the story like in Shenmue and i felt GOW didn't do it very well. It was also pretty repetitive with the bosses being repeated multiple times. Not gonna spoil anything but the ending was super anticlimactic as well.

I see this game being praised so much online and maybe my expectations were too high but i don't know, i feel i haven't truly enjoyed a game since the 6th generation to be honest. (I did love Virtua Fighter 5 last gen but when it comes to games on the older gens that captivated me it was on the 6th gen with games like ICO, Killer 7, Okami, Silent Hill, D2, Metal Wolf Chaos, Shenmue ect) I mostly stick with retro games nowadays and im not too fond of how modern gaming has evolved. Maybe i'm just getting old and out of touch? Hopefully Shenmue III will break that mold for me.

After playing it so much I'm starting to think that Sonic Generations may actually be Deadly Premonition-tier bad.

This is one of the greatest things I have EVER seen.

Damn. Don't think I'll ever be able o bring myself to that... you doing alright?

Very relieved to say I'm finally done with Sonic Generations. May it never sully my hard drive again.

Based on my video game experiences, at this point in my life I thought I would have jump kicked more punks off their motorcycles by now.

I love Silent Hill 2... so much that since I haven't played it on a console since the original Xbox, I almost purchased the Silent Hill HD Collection because it's now backwards compatible on Xbox One. Then I remembered that the port is extraordinarily bad and Konami will never fix it.

Undoubtedly the best way to play the game on modern hardware is to play the PC version with the community-made enhancements. It requires a little bit of work to get everything perfect, but the end result is something far better than the abomination that Konami produced with the HD Collection.

I also considered getting an original PS2, the original Silent Hill 2 and a CRT TV for the best possible original experience, but I think that may be overdoing it.
