Hi everyone; i decided to create this Thread for us share our daily life with "Shenmue" by sharing photographs of anything that we encounter that reminds us of Shenmue during our everyday life.

Nice idea for a thread and beautiful photos. 😊

I bought this Tiger Wall scroll a long time ago.

To me it has a Shenmue Vibe because it is a wall scroll and because it has a Tiger in it.

These balls with a Dragon and a Phoenix are The Baoding Balls/Healthy Balls.

My mother died in 2017, this was hers. In my opinion maybe the Baoding Balls was one of the inspirations for Yu Suzuki to create the Dragon Mirror and the Phoenix Mirror.

Synopsis of the Baoding Balls/Healthy Balls

Being a traditional product of Baoding City, the Healthy ball is famous throughout China and all over the world. The history of the ball can be traced back an early as the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644 D), when it first came out. Solid at the beginning, it was used to build up psysical strength and limber up the joints, as well as a tool for self de-fence, it remained solid till the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911 A D), when it was fashioned into a hollowed one with a soundboard inside. Since then, the ball has been handed down up to now and known as "Double Balls of Roaring Dragon and Singing Phoenix," for two balls are usually play together and they sound different tones.

This is one part of the Synopsis, this is the part that have a connection with Shenmue in my opinion.

The Baoding Balls remind me of Shenmue so I'm posting it here in this thread.

This place I went to yesterday reminds me of the part of the Hazuki Residence with the Koi Carp fish, it has the same vibe to me.

Bagua: Bagua is the feng shui energy map. It is a Chinese word that means "eight areas." Each of these areas relates to a particular life area.

Five elements: The five elements of feng shui are earth, metal, wind, water, and fire.

Bagua translates as "eight" (ba) "areas" or "symbols" (gua), and it originated as a Tao symbol in ancient China as a means of incorporating the interrelated principles of yin, the receptive feminine energy, and yang, the creative masculine energy, and the balance between all things in nature into one's environment.

This is The Bagua and I bought it yesterday.

In Chinese mythology, Guanyin (觀音) is the Goddess of mercy and considered to be the physical embodiment of compassion. She is an all-seeing, all-hearing being who is called upon by worshipers in times of uncertainty, despair, and fear. Guanyin is originally based on the bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara.

Her name means "She who hears the cries of the world."

The statue of Guanyin in Shenmue III.

Appreciate the info! I have the exact same in a similar box and somehow it's never crossed my mind that I have one dragon and one phoenix 🙃

Since Ryo has the White Tiger I wonder if we'll ever see the Black Snake Tortouse referenced in game?
