IGN Japan “From Voice Actors to Mini-Games”

Oh yeah, and throw any kind of DLC, season passes and micro transactions at. If it gets us S4, I'll buy the shit out of it.

lmao well I don't think Shenmue 4 will need much help at all, let alone something like that. In all likelihood, pre-orders alone for Shenmue 3 will pay for Shenmue 4, so we should be good to go :)

I will gladly buy any DLC Suzuki comes up with regarding Shenmue.
The more success they have the better.

While I see your point, it does concern me still. I've bought multiple copies of the game to help out and I fear that they will either:
A. Remain Incomplete & have to buy into the Season Pass (Which I will be doing anyway)
B. They release a Complete Edition & then all my prior versions will be redundant.

Overall I'd rather Option B still as I hate the idea of not having all the game on Disc, which is why DLC is always such a bummer for me. Usually I'm happy to sell my Standard Editions when a Complete Edition comes along but obviously with Shenmue III I've bought multiple Editions on KS which sort of lose their value.

This is becoming an increasing issue within the industry, I say if you're releasing DLC release a complete Edition later down the line - & Not cheap out with putting the content on codes, like SpiderMan did recently! NeatherRealm Studios seem to be on point with this, all their Mortal Kombat & Injustice releases eventually get a Complete Edition - Which I happily purchase when available - Awaiting Mortal Kombat 11's CE for next year!

The only way to future proof these scenarios is to back up your console data. I recently snagged a 2nd PS3 Console at a charity store & have been backing up all my games updates - You can do this by pressing Triangle on the game and Check for Update. I've been through nearly 200+ games this last week and now have all the online updates for each game stored! Next I will back up the data on a HDD and feel at least a bit more content that I can't lose my PS3 data - Because if these servers go down their down for good! & All these games will remain unpatched and ruined.

Pardon the rant, but these scenarios are what play in my mind whenever I hear about a game having DLC, I fear the notion of future proofing that content years down the line. So in hearing that Shenmue III has DLC it makes me very edgy.

Also ontop of that if this DLC isn't readily available at launch and the story DLC is not set after the main game, that means my initial playthrough is going to be an incomplete experience - Anyone who has played Final Fantasy XV will understand my frustration with that! I'm not going to Re-play the game to experience DLC that is set mid-way within the games story - Kingdom Hearts III seems to be doing something similar & while I enjoyed the experience with the game, I am so down with that game now.

In a world of day one (or day two, or day nine) patches, you rarely have the definitive version on disc anyway. Physical copies have become more of a token gesture, albeit one that saves you a chunk of bandwidth and hard drive space, but they're definitely not a means of future-proofing your collection. We live in a digital age now, for better or worse.

Well, your points are fine in my view.
After all, not all of us have all the money to just buy things over and over without any kind of constrain.

And yes. It sucks when game companies release incomplete games and hide content that would make part of the normal game some years ago behinf paywalls.

I just don't think that Yu Suzuki would allow something like that.
I believe he sees DLC in the way it should be seen. It's extra content for any fan who would enjoy more for the game.
Just think about this, why would he delay the game multiple times if he didn't want a properly complete and polished game?
He could just strip content from the game, release it earlier and put that content behind DLC's.

I used to worry about this, but the unfortunate reality is the age of getting a "100% final/complete" game at launch almost never happens anymore, and not every game is guaranteed a "complete" physical edition once they stop making content for it.

Getting a complete digital version is actually more future-proof than a complete physical version anyway, at least on PS4, because discs deteriorate over time.

That's why I don't worry about it anymore: because if I genuinely lose something I've paid for (my digital 3DS library comes to mind, which is tied to one piece of hardware), I will happily download those games again "for free" if I've legitimately purchased them in the past.

One great thing about the hunt for Choubu-chan in all 140 stores (aside from adding an extra challenge/diversion) is that it forces players to actually look at some of the detail they might otherwise gloss over on their way to the next objective.

These bottles and toys and vegetables have all been modelled with care, and if a treasure hunt is what it takes to make players notice and appreciate every little thing that the limited budget's been spent on, then it's an extra smart choice of "mini-game."

There needs to be DLC to give Ryo an ass cause right now it’s non existent.

Lol, don't forget to give Ryo back his leather Jacket while we're at it. While the texture is very detailed, and exactly what you would see on leather, the coloring, as well as the lighting/shading is not leather(It looks like some kind of felt material).

I find this mishap really bazaar, because on one hand you have texture detail that puts even the most well made AAA games to shame(such fine detail at that, most people wont even notice it in game), but then the coloring/shading is so off, it no longer looks like leather(a very obvious detail everyone will easily see in game).

I'd love it if the story DLC was some sort of bridge to Shenmue IV. Maybe if it was released in a years time to keep Shenmue in the gaming world news. 2 hours of dramatic story, maybe brief new major character introductions or the tease of old characters making a return. Also an idea of the new area we would be exploring in IV.

Indeed.

Plus they were pretty clear the feature could not be achieved, not that they'd bumped it back to DLC.

I hope they don't do that, besides the few things that couldn't be put in(with the exception of the Magic Maze system, which wouldn't make sense to add in at this point anyway, and didn't get reached originally either), don't really fit the Shenmue gameplay anyway, infact they would run the risk of making this not really feel like a Shenmue game.

Can someone explain this joke for the only guy in the universe that hasn't played GTAV?

When the game was released six years ago, there was a big, conspicuous casino that players couldn't enter. It always seemed that DLC would be released to incorporate it, but that didn't happen until two months ago.
