I love the VMU as a device but sadly... I don't believe I'd have use for one today. Plus the $100 projected price is a bit of an ouch but I don't know what the parts costs or labor costs are on creating such a thing. Cool to see the community continuing to push the medium though.
Basically what most boomer Dreamcast owners always wanted: 4X Memory Unit combined with standard VMU and backlit screen
Plus other cool features such as USB connectivity for charging battery and computer file management and an SD slot to never even touch the internal 4x. Also charges while playing games with the VM2 installed into controller.
the dremcast vmu was pretty cool. i never used my vmu much (definitely not like a Tamagotchi) but i do remember it displaying important information during shenmue 2.
i never understood why sony or microsoft never decided to build upon the vmu and incorporate a basic screen into a controller, just to display basic ingame information.
